Manufacturing Tolerances
Comprehensive specifications and tolerances for our sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and custom enclosure manufacturing processes.
Tolerances for Dimensional Variance
Protocase takes great care to manufacture your electronic enclosures, parts, and components as accurately as possible. We use high-quality machinery, tooling, and processes to get you the desired outcome. However, a certain amount of dimensional variance is inherent in any manufacturing process.
Our tolerances are the maximum limits for dimensional variation before a part is considered out of specification. Use this resource before designing your project — designs that account for dimensional variance run smoothly through production.
These are standard tolerances. In many cases we can tighten them — usually at a cost. If you need tighter specs, contact our engineering team and we'll find cost-effective options for you.
Key Principles
-
Bilateral Tolerancing
Equal plus and minus deviations from the nominal dimension, unless otherwise noted.
-
Design for Variance
Accounting for tolerances during design ensures better manufacturing outcomes.
-
Tighter Specs Available
We can tighten tolerances beyond standard on a per-project basis.
